Case Study

The children that the Snowdrop Care at Home Team look after have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses which include cancer, leukaemia, cystic fibrosis, aplastic anaemia, heart, lung, liver and kidney problems, Batten's Disease, Duchene's Distrophy, Muscular Dystrophy and Sclerosis, Rhett's Syndrome and many other illnesses.  Sometimes a diagnosis cannot be given as the condition is so complex.

One Mother reports.....

When I first heard about the Snowdrop Care at Home Team, I realised I needed help, but I found it difficult to allow strangers into my home, In my mind I feared them seeing me at my most vulnerable and wasn't sure about them doing very personal things to my child.  I soon realised that all my fears were completely unfounded and that Snowdrop Care was the best thing that could have happened to us.

The Sussex Snowdrop Trust has made such a difference to my whole family in easing our burden.  Treatment at home has helped me in particular, my daughter receives treatment from a familiar face whom she trusts in a relaxed atmosphere, which puts us all at ease. The nurses don't just provide medical care, they also support us emotionally and I know I can ring them at any time for help.  They have become friends to our whole family, offering reassurance, advice and attention to siblings as well.  An added bonus for me is that they will visit my daughter at school to administer medical care, I don't have to be there.  I know that if anything happens they will ring me immediately.

I really don't know what I would do without them.

Over the past 15 years we have been able to make a difference to many families.
